Organizational behavior studies the impact individuals, groups, and structures have on human behavior within organizations. It is an interdisciplinary field that includes sociology, psychology, communication, and management (dictionary.com). Between the two organizational behaviors, I think that the group behavior is more important. In today’s society, numerous of organizations embrace the notion of teams. Groups have become the core unit in many organizations. Groups tend to be more effective in solving problems and learn more rapidly than individuals. Groups also have better company visions and creativity, acceptance, support, generate understanding, and commitment. Corporations create strategies for their teams to deliver outcomes on daily basis, so they can achieve profit and market share within their respective industry. They have turned to successful sports coaches to motivate and teach their management leaders how to build great teams and create a winning environment. Katz, Koenig (2001) states, Managers often look to sports for inspirational examples and useful models of teamwork. Over the last decades, coaches like Phil Jackson, Pat Summit, Joe Torre, and Pat Riley have given speeches regarding teamwork and winning culture.
